Biography of Marcus Aquila

Marcus Aquila grew up on a farm with his mother and father who were of the equestrian class. Marcus' father was a soldier, as was his uncle, and Marcus himself now. Marcus desires to become a powerful force in the Roman Army, but because of his social status, he knows there are only few legions that he could have the chance to raise into power. When Marcus was a child, his father's legion marched north and was never heard from again. The first legion, the posessers of the aquila, became the lost legion. Their disappearance left Marcus fatherless, and the death of his mother shortly after that, left him motherless also. Marcus was sent to live with his aunt and uncle, whom he did not like for their indifference and lack of understanding towards him.
As Marcus became a young man he joined the Roman military and became the centurion of a  auxiliary cohort made up of local people stationed in northern Britannia. Although he has many differences to the men in his cohort, he believes them to be a strong force, and he becomes a great leader, proving his skills to them. And as Marcus is beginning his military career, he hopes to find more information about his father's lost legion and the aquila. Marcus becomes comfortable in his cohort, and goes hunting with Cardoc. Marcus is challenged that he could not drive the spirited quartet, and after a while he tries and succeeds, winning a spear from Cardoc.
